Its Right There Inside of You

Professional Speaker-Personal Development-Positive Attitude

When this pandemic first started, I thought it would last for only a few months. Let’s be honest, I think we all did. But now, nine months later I have finally faced the reality that it has made a permanent change in my life. As a professional speaker who craves being in front of an audience, I have to accept the fact that I don’t know when that will be possible again. I mourn the loss of something that I have worked so hard to achieve, and it is now time to shift my focus to something new.

Wondering what that is? Well, a few years ago, I started writing a book. However, I became so busy with my speaking engagements that I put that project on the back burner. Now I have decided to dust off those pages, seek some help, and finish it. I have no dreams of becoming the next Eat Pray Love phenomenon, yet I do want to share my lessons learned and hope I can help a few people along the way.

So, instead of writing weekly blogs, I will now focus on finishing my book. With that in mind, this will be my last blog post. I thank all of you who have followed me and commented along the way. You have been my support and my life saver when I wanted to give up. And if you have enjoyed reading my blogs, please know that this is my 284th post. Can you believe it? I’d like to leave you with one thought:

Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, keep you eye on your goal, your dream. If you look closely, you can even see it in the distance. And when the road gets a little foggy and a bit scary, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. And remember, you already have the strength inside of you. Never, ever doubt that for a moment.

One Wish for All

Professional Speaker-Personal Development-Positive Attitude

Wherever this day may find you, whatever your beliefs may be, I wish you lots of smiles and laughter and love and hope for a future that is yet to be revealed. May the twists and turns of life take you down a path where you will find someone to reach out a helping hand. And once you have found a place where you can take a breath and enjoy the scenery along the way, may you reach out your own hand and help someone else who may have lost their way.

Here’s to the magic and peace of every day.

In Other Words…

Quotes

That’s the one word that would describe this seventh technique that helped me through a very difficult time in my life.

For some reason, I was really drawn to quotes.  I found that when I heard them and wrote them down, it actually made me feel a little better.  I began to post them all over my house – mirrors, dressers, refrigerators… even on the steering wheel in my car.  So no matter where I went, there was some quote that resonated with me.

They were about courage, hope, love.  Some made me laugh and others made me cry, but each and every one made me believe in myself a little deeper, it made me feel a little stronger, even if only for a little while.

One of my favorite quotes is: “She believed she could, so she did.”  I had a small plaque with those words on it and I put it smack dab in the middle of my dresser.   I could read it every morning when I woke up and it helped me tackle the day.   More importantly, I read it every night before I went to bed.  That way I had seven or eight hours of sleep where this thought could percolate inside my head.  It helped me believe in myself once again.

What about you?  Do you have a favorite quote?  One that speaks to you and makes you smile?  Maybe you have two quotes.  Three quotes.  Five quotes.  Post them where you can read them every single day.

I actually made a list of The Top 10 Quotes that Helped Me through the Day.  If you’d like a copy, click here and feel free to use them in whatever way helps you the most.  And if you have time, please share your quote with us. We can all make our own list of favorite quotes and start smiling today.
